I even agree with that, even if I'm more concerned with wearing comfort, a hip style belt sometimes looks a little strange (my opinion)

my father thinks that he doesn't want to spend money on it, furthermore he thinks (and honestly i do too) that a cheap belt is not comparable to wearing a high quality belt

I think that,for a test,it is better than nothing,but it is true that the feelings and efficiency may be very differents.

but he won't spend money on a one-time test

As a hip style would allow more freedom on the clothes,and is probably easier to hide,it would be good,I think(especially if it's comfortable for you too).

But,as you say,it seems you'll not have a chance to discuss it with your father,anyway.
