But yeah, most secondary shields I have seen look opaque enough that they would probably be as street-legal as any bikini from the front. The rear of course would be a bigger question depending on belt style, but swimming in just the belt might not actually be a matter of public indecency and more of standing out a bit too much.

My family wears the church approved swimwear when we are at the beach and pool. They look egregiously awful. I think that could very well be the one issue I am more interested in busting out of here over.

The combination of heavily fortified underwear with transparency at one's most precious places still heavily confuses parts of my brain. 😅 FS, how dare you?! 🤦

Anyway, public nudity / clothing rules - plus how they are actually lived out - are sometimes quite confusing too, particularly in strongly federal jurisdictions. The ongoing process of "harmonizing" all the different views and moral approaches, maintaining justice (whatever this is for you) creates sometimes quite odd combinations.

LDS is generally more strict on modesty standards than the Catholic church is. We even have to wear special underpants during a regular day.

But where I am currently living has a substantial orthodox Jewish population. The swimsuits the women wear are far more conservative than our requirements. I haven't encountered a Muslim population of swimmers yet.

Ines You haven't seen some fundamentalist North American Catholics. I do have some of these in my family. I did have the privilege to act as their personal driver around Europe when I was a young student.

One on my fondest memory is my ground mother (which I was driving to "old friends") entertaining me with a private inquisition on the critical question why that crucifix had disappeared from my room since her last visit. 4 hours basically uninterrupted monologue about my soul. Till I was able to deliver to her friends and hide with my parents more secular friends. Shudder.

(Did I mention that in her case, my father explicitly forbade to ever explain to her about the EU and EU citizenship, just to make sure that his mother always thought that she is limited to staying 3 months in Europe on a tourist visa. He literally feared that she might learn how her dual citizenship might allow her to stay anywhere in the EU for unlimited times, just by showing the other passport at the airport. Funny how the mighty elephant fears the tiny mouse.)

So yes, North America seems to have something in the air, that brings out fundamentalism in humans.

Here is the most acceptable for a woman under 40. Please I do not want sound cruel, but if people watch a young woman wearing a one piece swimwear instantly they will think that she is hiding something.
Obviously sport context is different.

I went through a period when I was in high school and first year of college when I actually had to model what I was going to wear on the beach for my father so he could see it on me. He was especially concerned about how much of my bottom showed. Now I no longer have to model though I would not wear anything I knew would disappoint him.

That's what the rules say but I don't actually see that. The BYU runners wear the same uniforms we do, do workouts and have pictures taken in sports bras and bun huggers. Pretty small sample though.

Somehow I always read this as "Bring Your Own University" a lot, despite the fact that Brigham Young is perhaps one of the most reputable faith-centric tertiary schools. BYOU seems to be how Alexis is getting her secular education.

I mean we educate our priests in Austria at state run universities. That have a catholic and protestant theological faculty. Take that for "faith-centric universities". A totally crazy concept.

The only part I cared about was that the opening of the primary shield it came with was wider. Nobody except my mom is seeing me in the belt anyway, and she's already seen all of my stuff, so it really doesn't matter to me that much. And if it did bother me, it uses the same screws as the metal secondary shield and would just ask to swap them.

Also, though we have many denominations, they have mostly coalesced into a few general categories.

Liberal Yankees, city slickers, and coastal elites. Evangelical Lutheran Church of America, American Baptist, Disciples of Christ, United Church of Christ, Congregationalist, Unitarian, etc.

Conservative southerners and plain old country folks. Southern Baptist, Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Foursquare, Evangelical Free, Church of Christ, most non-denominational churches and megachurches, etc.

Churches with both liberals and conservatives. Most of these are having big internal fights right now. Episcopal (American Anglican), Methodist, Presbyterian, Catholic.

Churches with additional doctrines or extra strict interpretations. Seventh Day Adventist, Pentecostal, Jehovah's Witness, LDS/Mormon.

I know it sounds messy, but somehow everyone who wants a church can find the right one for themselves, and sometimes we even work together for the common good.

I know of interfaith organizations where liberals and conservatives work side by side to feed the homeless. Somehow they never get as much news coverage as the maniacs yelling at each other.

European persecution of religious minorities in the 17th and 18th centuries concentrated the crazy on this side of the pond.
