Avery Walmart offers off-the-rack corsets for $20-30 US. Not sure how good they might be. I wonder if they are just for fetish purposes these days. I might try one for that price.

I can not recommend those. The cut is wrong and they use plastic bones which could break and stuck in your body in worst case.
Their are sufficient companies and corset maker everywhere to get a reasonable corset.
As @gwen wrote made-to-measure would be good but the ready-to-wear in a shop which offer the made-to-measure as well are a good one to start with.

I'm having a little trouble imagining a corset with a belt. Of course there's different kinds of each. I've seen some which might work with my hip belt.

I got interested in corsets after looking at outerwear like corset shirts, pirate shirts, renaissance blouses, that sort of thing. But in the right circumstances I could see a corset in the bedroom.

Thanks for your experiences. I would assume something like a waist cincher would work with a hip belt, but of course that is not a 'proper' corset.
Of course a corset is meant to compress your waist, and as such its goal is that even with the corset, the waist ends up having a smaller circumference that without it. But that is probably more at stomach level, so you are saying that near the hips you will always need a wider waist belt to fit over the corset (because the hip bones can't be compressed)?

I have never seen a corset with an integrated regular metal belt. Perhaps @Joh is referring to corsets that have an integrated chastity function, but those are mostly separate flaps of the same material as the corset that go through the crotch. Normally they can be locked separately, since they don't allow bathroom visits. That would make them unsuitable for full-time wear in most cases. See for example this one from contour corsets (no longer in business)
There are also some custom fetish designs of full metal chastity corsets, that are a metal construction from crotch to chest, but of course those will be totally unsuitable for every day wear, either. (If you want to see examples of what they look like, you can google for '"chastity corset" jacky line', but those are serious bondage images, so I'm not linking them here.)

If I expand my belt to the maximum size, it barely fits over my corsets, but the angle of my corseted hips does not match the ergonomic band of my at all.

I'm planning going to order another belt for wear with a corset. It will be a waist style belt with a straight waist band that matches my smaller corseted waist. I'll order one of those interchangeable systems (I think My-Steel calls it the travel system) so I can swap the waist band size when I'm not wearing a corset.

Chastity belts are expensive, though, so I have been waiting to make sure I'm going to be belted long term before I make the purchase. I plan to place the order at 6 months of full time belting, which is coming up soon.

Yes, that is indeed a side effect of stacking them this way. It also makes adjusting ones laces more difficult. This isn't my goal, but a side effect I can tolerate.

I'm surprised to see this much interest in corsets! I could recommend a couple of vendors that make wearable off the rack corsets, if the rules would allow such a promotion.

I'm more seriously interested in fashion items, outerwear, something you could wear to a private party or even on a date. Corset or pirate shirts, renaissance blouses. Those are made to look like corsets, drawn in and "tied" around the waist. The kind of stuff that @gwen and @carg are talking about I have no idea. I DO find their stuff very, very interesting. I don't know where I'd go to learn that stuff. My friends are all fashionistas.

Boy, those are something. Thanks for all you wrote, just quoted a little for brevity. I had no idea there was so much to corsets. I suppose if one brings in the BDSM type items the subject expands. I'm primarily interested in fashion items and something that would work in the bedroom including something one could get laid in.

Honestly, I'm still skeptical. I have a long torso and have worn some very short corsets, and they'd all come down too low on my hips for even a hip chastity belt to fit under. I might be able to squeeze them in, but it'd pinch terribly!

I'll need a much smaller waist belt to fit over the corset, and I'll need it to rest at my waist instead of my hips. When one is laced down, everything is more stiff. A straight, flat chastity belt waist band will fit much better than a contoured one.

Contour made some amazing corsets! Although, I've only ever seen her daily wear corsets. This is the first time I've seen something with so many... accessories.

There's not that much to learn. They're much easier to work into ones wardrobe than a chastity belt, to be honest.

All of my friends who are interested in wearing corsets do share one thing in common, though: we all find them incredibly comfortable. The steady pressure feels like I'm being hugged all day, which I find comforting and relaxing. If that does not sound appealing, I wouldn't spend too much time investigating.

Guess you'd better get one of those Dolce and Gabbana corset belts then, and combine it with a pencil (or hobble) skirt that limits your stride somewhat 😛 (still a lot more comfortable than thighbands)
