I don't think there is a big difference. However it would be nice to know what happened before second half of 20-th century. I remember @Megan mentioned something about it at the misterpoll.

It's like a family tradition that has been carried from Central Europe to rural USA. My mother and a lot of female relatives wear belts. Before that there were more simple belts which women wore before marriage and before that there were probably some sort of the "bride doesnt see the groom" types pf traditions.

In my family, the very first one was my mother, a little tome before get pregnant of my older sister.
At first my parents used it as a "spicy" item, but since the birth of her, they were more convinced of advantanges of female chastity.
We are 4 ladies in the house, but only mother wears 24/7 , nevertheless she strip off the thighs bands to attend the workplace.
The example of mom, makes the 2 old daughters, more or less 😅 , happy wearers, but our younger sister is absolutely reluctant to it.
I gess that when she would get the age of have more freedom she would want do same things than me or Teresa, best way to convincente 🤣 .

Maybe it could be possible, in those times here were not any information. At first, they buy one belt (British one, i think), as spicy. But when the girls (us 😀 )arrive, they though that maybe a belting life would be good for us.
My parents manage well English, but the few times we talk with my mom about this, she tell me that when she buy her belt, my parents, did not have PC with Internet.

The first contact was with a telephone call!!
They take aknowledge of it due to a American Supplier of my dad's store.
Anyway my mother says that our belts are much better, smoother and confortable. And she say that the MySteel of my sister is still better (I am a little surprised).
