Thanksgiving

I want to wish all the US based people on the Forum a great Thanksgiving. I hope you enjoy a nice dinner with your family and/or friends.

I invited my grand daughters but unfortunately the older one has a horrible cold so is staying home. I am also having a 96 year old lady friend that I sort of look after. Wish I could invite everyone on the Forum but better not. I am not cooking. A local grocery store is preparing the dinner so all I have to do is pick it up and all will be well.

We all have a lot to be thankful for even if Thanksgiving is supposed to have something to do with USA.

Were eating ribs and green beans and green tea protein drinks our friends got us into lots of new things besides Turkey and big casseroles that we grew up on. I think we'll have some chicken tomorrow .

I am also thankful that we have each other and for all that @Laura @Ines families do for us. I am going to be so busy through the holidays but I also hope to get some good non fetish troll presents 🍀

Well, the US has made that into a very big event. The roots are actually far older. The catholic church for example is celebrating a 'thanks for the harvest' in many countries. Only how it is celebrated and when differs. In Germany it is the first Sunday of October. In our increasingly secular world, this is largely forgotten though by non church goers.

curious harvest festivals are even older than the Catholic Church - the harvest and others are all pagan festivals that the church adopted/borrowed/stole.
