I forgot to mention, but there is a spring in the tumbler that makes the keyhole turn back into the normal position, so the moment you release the tension wrench and stop turning the keyhole, it'll reset. While it resets, the pins will push back down, blocking the way, which means you just started over. There are springs that keeps the pins down, unless pushed with a key or pick, so if you plan to try it, try to keep going without giving up.

It would be nice if you started documenting a journal of how your lockpicking experience goes, but opening your first padlock, to a door, and someday, your own belt. That would be an interesting way to track everyone's progress. 😁

Of course, practice on bigger padlocks, since they have wider keyholes and its easier to feel the pressure of each pin being pushed from their springs. Once you get the feeling of what it's like to have a pin not pushing towards you, that's a sign that you picked it correctly. It could be a bad sign where you pushed it up too far, and now its just wedged between the tumbler and internal cylinder.

Smaller padlocks are a bit tougher for me, cuz I can barely tell if the pins are being pushed by their springs, you'd had to be so gentle when you push onto the pins. Since they are moving a few millimeters upwards, if you push it more than 4mm up, then its probably wedged between the metal cylinders. You should look up transparent locks, so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.

After 5 years of lock picking it took you 3 days to learn the mysteel lock?

Raziel I've had this lock picking set for almost 5 years now, and they're still in great condition. I've been lockpicking every month or 2 and trying about 20 times in those months.

It is easy to pick a lock??? 🤔

Tobbe It usually is. Talent obviously also plays a big part.
Some locks are obviously also harder to pick then others, spool pins are death, but yes.
It isn't that hard.

Both of you need to keep in mind which direction the padlock is facing before you put it back on your belt. If the logo is sticking outward, keep it in that position if you lock it back up. One of you are going to have your parents asking, "did I leave the padlock like this?"

The lock isn't broken, it just can't turn, like putting in the wrong key in the wrong keyhole. It's not broken, and yes, you can always take out your lockpicks easily, since they aren't strong enough to actually break the brass inside locks. It's completely safe to try it out, barely leaves a scratch.

I'm not actively lockpicking, it's more like a hobby of something I do every now and then. The locks I pick, I learned their pick pattern over time. I know which pins needs to be pushed the furthest vs the other pins that barely needs a little nudge. If you look at the key, you can also mentally map out how far your pins go.

That is good that you showed this on your videos... Every girl would be rather terrified the first time trying it. I would not have gotten in trouble (at least not assaulted) but it is a big change!

Angelina Best a photo with the smarphone. Delete the photo after putting back the belt. Otherwise you may make a mistake after opening it often and your father changes the direction sometimes.
