Which would be almost as impoossible to conceal as it is to escape a chastity belt you are wearing.

But if that is not enough, since this is about high-tech belts, perhaps the belt could be designed with pressure sensors that detect when someone with a body shape that roughly matches the wearer is inside the belt when it is being locked. With an electronic lock, it could even be ensured that the belt only seriously locks on the wearer's command if it detects that it is actually being worn.

That threat would be used to ensure it does not happen in the first place. Tricking the belt requires a deliberate effort to cheat, you cannot convincingly claim that you just forgot.

So you just lost the privilege to self-lock right before going out until you can convince the keyholder that you have learned your lesson and will behave properly in the future. And good luck convincing them when you no longer have an opportunity to cheat that you could have chosen to ignore.

That was the implication with the "good luck". Trying to earn that privilege back after proving yourself to not be trustworthy is going to be somewhere between difficult and impossible, depending on the keyholder.

I heard they did the occasional one-way lock, which could be locked once and never unlocked again. Does not seem very practical to me, but having one key to lock and another to unlock seems like an interesting compromise between snap-shut padlocks and keyed locking only.
