Unfortunately, those values exist even in the supposedly civilized west, particularly in parts of the American bible belt where Roman Catholics are considered liberal devil-worshippers. Or in rural Bavaria.
Conversely, the radical opposite of that camp is almost as, pardon the choice of words, idiotic. If you tell a girl or young woman to be careful because they are bad guys out there, there are some that say this puts you into the former group.
And yeah, I think we can agree on that.
