As for the emergency key, I agree that you should not have it completely out of reach. You should absolutely be able to get unlocked in a matter of few minutes if any problems arise, especially while you are still relatively new to the belt. But if you went through all the trouble of buying a pretty expensive device with a lock on it and building a keyholding relationship, the topic of accountability is something you should be considering. Nothing to prevent you from using the key should you need to, but something that encourages having an open discussion about why you needed to.
Now of course, I do not discount the fact that having to go through two locks before you can do anything unchaste already provides ample protection about absent-minded wandering hands, which are often the most common (and ultimately least satisfying) kinds of unchaste behavior. So if your current situation works out well enough for you, there is nothing wrong with continuing like that. You can always upgrade if you feel you need extra security down the line, especially if a single instance of unchaste behavior does not cost you something precious in your life.
Definitely do not make the emergency key hard to access when you really need it, though! And I am still curious about what sort of safe you have, but if you are uncomfortable sharing, that is fine. Just let me know that is the case so I can stop asking about it.
