There was an update on the MySteel website I saw today. They moved the production to hungary and will start to resume the webshop and production in 09/2024.

They're back, but based in Hungary now

Not only production but also when you would like to visit them is now in Hungary. Despite cost in Hungary would be cheaper, the prices have increased nevertheless.

Within the EU there should not be export costs. Only cost for transport. So moving from Germany to Hungary should not make any difference.

Joh Not necessarily, if the labor costs offset the transportation cost, would be worth it. For example a factory full of workers who happily work for like $2 a day vs workers who won’t work for less than $20 an hour.

at present, it is usually the labour costs that make relocation abroad attractive, nevertheless, transport costs can be higher, but that's just my opinion, i don't have any concrete figures

Sasha While the costs of labor in Poland are lower than in Germany, I don't think they are quite that low.

Sasha We talked from the same. They moved because the labor cost is less and the transportaktion cost will be less than what they save on Labor. Over all they have to pay less to get the CB done and send If to the customer.

pestulens That’s for sure. I was responding more broadly, like why move tech support to India or manufacturing to China.
Within Europe I’d expect costs of labor and materials to be relatively consistent overall

Joh They said they moved because they want to be with their relative whose care is much cheaper there. Nothing about manufacturing cost or anything of that sorts, to my knowledge.
