Ines I think that no matter USA, France, Portugal, Italia, France, Spain, Argentina... there are TYPICALLY female chores in home: cleaning, cooking, ironing, set the table.... everything of that was usually done for women for ages. In my home, for example, my father works on the garden and we made most of inside home chores.
And I think that the traditional picture is very similar in every civilizated country.
It seems to me that a lot depends on the specific family when it comes to the chores. For example, in the case of my parents (born in the 1940s and 1950s, coming from a liberal, urban background), it was not unusual for my father to clean the apartment and sometimes cook. In turn, my wife's parents, although born later (in the 1960s), come from a conservative rural environment and their division of roles is very traditional (my mother-in-law does practically everything in the house except renovation and technical work).
