It's a more complex question, it's not just about grades. There are cases of truancy, academic results become less important. Some people have a need to show off (not academic results), as was mentioned dating can distract from learning. The chastity belt is also something of a motivational tool/prevention. And it can help!

Lea You are right. Success in school is more that just good grades. Long ago, dating was a distraction from school. It took me a while to learn the right balance.
@Sasha B average is good. I agree that the right thing to do is to always try for the As but that might not always work out.

If my parents locked me in a chastity belt at 13 years of age instead of seeking professional help I would have wound up dead. It certainly wouldn't have helped me to study better.

Angelina Pretty sure I mentioned a long time ago that I got breaks for good grades. I think I did anyway, but yes that was always part of the arrangement, sorry if I confused you.

I personally feel like the belt does a bit lower your performance in school or studies slightly. However, I'm someone who slways gives his best at anything and tends to work unter inhumane conditions voluntarily by always trying to work the hardest and most.
The belt does sometimes distract you a bit from your studies. Not very often since I've been waring it for so long already, but let's say every few weeks or days it does do so. But that does actually improve the long time effect of learning, because you need a little distraction from time to time to not suffer from another burnout. A little break by belt-caused distraction of maybe an hour every week turned out to be actually quite good.
Also, it improoves your general mood and makes you happier and gives you more confidence
