Yes, your dick doesn't get shorter, that's right. And you don't loose potency by time. But you can lose potency by age. So a 60 year old might not have so many erections as a teenager. No matter if cadged or not.

And what concerns the color. I know it can only get darker then normal while being erected for a long time - if the cadge fits - but that's what I call purple... because normally they are brown /red / skincolour and turn purple then.
