Marder you had to be very much into the kink scene to even know about chastity belts, and the early manufacturers like Tollyboy and Access Denied.

From discussion with Hal at the original Tollyboy and Paul and Brigitta at the original Access Denied, from 20% (AD) to 40% (Tollyboy) of the early production was non-kink and purchased as anti-rape or fidelity assurance.

But I'm not entirely convinced. For anti-rape or fidelity assurance you don't really need secondary shields. It would be interesting to know if the devices purportedly sold for that purpose had them.
Next, I'd really like to know how you would have sold these belts to the general public in pre internet times. Classifieds? The kink scene, on the other hand, always was (well, needed to be) well networked - if necessary, by word of mouth.

And finally, what were the production numbers back then? - All in all, I still maintain that non-kink use of chastity belts earlier than the late 90s was a rare occurrence. Maybe not as rare as I thought, but still neglectable in so far that it would need a very good explanation why someone not into kink would come across real world usable chastity belts that early.

Marder that's right, at least when I ordered it the dome had no sizes or curvatures to choose from. And like you say, the form does not seem to accept bending - unless of course you have access to a blast furnace, curious ^

Huh, weird. A big advantage of using a 3D printed part would be that every piece you manufacture could be uniquely adapted. Sure, it would require some thought to do the actual fitting, but just producing the exact same part over and over again seems to waste a lot of the potential of the process.

These were first person discussions with both vendors. I helped Hal with some design changes and helped improve the measurement form that Tollyboy used after our first attempt at measurement did not go well and required a trip to Sheffield to fix. I worked with AD on several belt customization projects.
For the Tollyboy, the original purpose of the secondary shield was to prevent pinching in the slot in the front shield.
There were classified ads in the back of magazines that were on newsstands at the time. According to Hal, a bunch of orders came after an article in "Skin Two" magazine. It was not kink but more exotic fashion. At the time (late 80s and befor) there was a lot of interest in leather, latex, and rubber fashion in Europe that did not regard themselves as kinky. This scene was also well networked. Hal indicated a lot of his orders came from families in the middle east who were following family tradition.
I don't know a lot about production numbers. On both of my visits to Sheffield, there were 5 or 6 belts in production and Hal said they took about a week to 10 days. I don't know about AD numbers. This was a small sideline for another business.

Tjc It's great that you're here and sharing your experiences from this time with us. As you already wrote. Back then, it was via relevant magazines that were not international. A lot of things from the USA never reached Europe.

Joh And also the other way around. The fancy magazines from Europe, like Skin Two, only made it to the United States through one or two distributers who would then resell them. The US distributor for Tollyboy did a lot of travel to Europe and that was the original interest in importing this sort of thing to the US. I first saw their ad for Tollyboy in the back of a US magazine but, unfortunately, I don't remember which one.

Damien sorry I mean the belt itself when on her was able to just bent the waist band a bit to better suits my shape and curves, Just prevented the edges sat on the hip and follow the contour a bit better. The dome it self I agree cannot be bent and is pretty much what it is. It was just the positioning along the cable to best sit well and cover what it should. The only thing he did to the shields was file on a few sharper edges and repolish.

As for the quality, over all it was good, I have read mixed reviews but to be fair I have read mixed reviews about all manufacturers at times. Thankfully we got the measurements right so that was the main thing, everything else was just adjusting to fit me which is impossible for any manufacturer unless you do a face-to-face measurement and fitting session.

That in itself would be a rather interesting experience lol getting measured and fitted like you would at a dressmakers

With the P1 shield for female and male belts yes I understand they are 3d printed and I imagine the clear shield is cast/moulded and one size fits all. The other shields are made. There is a good YouTube Chanel a few years old now where he explains the belts and the shields. Sorry I don't want to sound like a fancysteel sales person as I am not and I know there lots of belts, My cousin has a MySteel and I have a FS, do l like the carraa ones as well, They look heavy duty. What I do like the fs is he does seem to change the designs overtime and improves and upgrades I suppose as the company and skills grow

As for custom I suppose it is possible in the sensce with 3d printing what I read you can scale up or down a diagram, that is with the plastic though and imagine the metal is far more complicated

Joh Sorry High Station means big hills. It is for grazing stock and not suitable for cropping. Most of that is done back across where I was from on the Canturbury Plains which are flat. New Zealand has quite unique geography that it seems to have a bit of everything all in a small space.

As for the BDSM I am not sure. Not see any whips and chains yet lol. But reading on that aspect I suppose there is a bit it there. My uncle is very much the boss of the house and his home and my aunt certainly said the idea of chastity for her was his idea. I think your timings explanation was good as he must of seen some chastity belts years ago in the early days f the internet and got one custom made based of those designs.

Damien I like the dome shield as it cups the region as opposed to sat on it and directly touching it so i do imagine even with vibes the sensation would not be much. But that is me, I know I am not hugely sensitive there whereas others are etc so it differs from woman to woman. What works perfectly for one may not for another.

Lol speculating about BDSM. I like the way you write. Yes I know it is not what this forum is about but do understand that there is some crossover for some. Again we are all different and into chastity for different reasons. This day and age is such things are not so underground and on the fringe and is a lot more mainstream and out there from what I have heard and like the discussions above.
