Yes, it is not hard to find a reasonable solution. The reason for my post was to raise awareness that there is a risk, because if someone is not aware, they will not take the simple precautions. But I am glad to see that the awareness seems higher than I expected.
In my experience turning GPS off totally is not that easy: there are loads of apps (route planning, weather, trip advisor, sports trackers, ...) that at least ask you to turn it on, or at worst don't even work without. But I do it anyway, and only turn it on when I need it, because that saves a lot of battery power. (But I have regularly noticed I forgot to turn it off again after using such an app.)
Of course another solution is not to share pictures ;-)
