It's what I wonder too..An emergency key should be used if the keyholder of the main key is impossible to reach;so if the keyholder is the only one that can explain how to get the emergency key,it is not very useful...

Then maybe he should write the combination of the pin on a paper or put the key to the safe in a sealed envelop and give this envelop to someone (i.e. your grandma....). And if something happens to him this person should give you the envelop. The person doesn't need to know what this envelop is for.

This I can't really understand. You said often you and your dad like to control things. And for me controlling something means everything goes as planned. And if you plan well you will know that something that you can't imaging can happen every time. So you have to think of a plan B and in your case plan B means to destroy the safe. But on the information given from you even this plan isn't really planed yet. So if something happen both of you lose control over the situation. And for a keyholder this should never happen.
I know all of this is very theoretical but the chances that something will happen are not zero.

I think I misunderstood. I thought you mean access to the emergency keys. With the bank account it will be the same, no access before marriage, but my father thinks about recurringly sending money to his account from my account for buying things for me.

let's say my father has an accident and is unconscious. my father always has the main keys with him. if he were in hospital, who would get his private things until he is fit again? Me of course

that means i wouldn't have to get the safe at all, but would get the main keys directly.
