Unless her parents had already belted her previously, in which case I would ask my fiancee if what I envision is the type of relationship she wants and her parents if they would be inclined to the idea of me marring their daughter.

However, the other side of this is that a chastity belt could also be seen to represent commitment. The physical embodiment of the idea of "forsaking all others". That's a huge gift, and when given willingly, a positive statement.
