Max9 That's right, but is it really an obligation? I feel nobody has to. It can be just a sign of affection. Like wearing a wedding ring for example. Nobody does force you to wear it , but you do it. Because you want to.
Yes, you really have to trust in your partner that she doesn't cheat on you. But Nevertheless it a nice sing of affection if you get offered by her to hold her keys when you're not there.
My last 2 girlfriends did cheat on me, and I always trust my partner 100% if I have one, but the idea of being offered to hold their keys is just a lovely gesture I feel. It sort of says "I don't want to cheat on you, but I want you to be sure I couldn't do so, even if I would want to."
This way,it is a nice and romantic gift,but we're farer from the initial purpose of the chastity belt.But I agree it can be used in such purpose.

In some contexts(especially if it is his girlfriend/wife who keep his keys),probably,but it is not always the case,I think,even in such contexts.It is probably almost always the case in a female led relationship,however.
