For everyone interpreting my above statement, I didn't want to make a general statement against politics, or debating personal differences. Or make my own stance. On the contrary, these can be very important topics. (Though frankly, atm I feel that I needed more background knowledge to really take part. Besides it's up to forum leaders, if they want these discussions here). I personally think if one is willing and able to engage in an open discussion, even (and sometimes: especially) if it is about a controversial topic, it can facilitate unexpected chances for learning and (maybe, maybe) even developing a more thorough, more solid position in certain aspects.
Yet, it seems a natural human tendency to me, to quickly become very emotionally involved, even upset in discussions, when views differ a lot. Then, arguments can escalate quickly. You know: Observations, emotions, people and preferences, and their different needs and desires, ... everything mixed together - producing circumstances that become extremely different to handle, disentangle or even resolve.
So, beside what I already wrote, I was worried it became too easy for me (or maybe others) to be caught between fronts. That would've diminish my joy and ability to focus on the discussion and actual topic.
That being said, I happily go back go bras. ;-)
