It is the same in France,it is very unclear,at least for university students...

For high school and the "baccalauréat"(diploma needed to access university),they decided they would use the average of the grades in the last two years of high school,to decide if someone has the "bac",or not.

There was some changes(mainly not appreciated by students)about going to an university,etc... but it is a bit complex,and too off-topic to discuss.

At the end of high school, there are exams in which are evaluated the contents of last year. In function of results you choose career and university.

Well,for the first case,it may be true,as you would be more aroused.But I doubt you would be successful,even without the thigh bands,and the "benefit" for it is not worth taking the risk to be discovered(and,during a trip,you would not have much time alone to fight your chastity belt,anyway).
