well, the waist style belt restricts movement a bit more, maybe that was the worry and that's why she chose the hip style

That's really interesting. I always found a waist belt to be noticeably uncomfortable. A result of a male body shape possibly.

Well,for us too,there is no proofs a hip style one is less secure,but our parents would not accept we wear one...

rather not, i have a few friends who are older and have a driver's licence, apparently it is still taught in exactly the same way today.
