There would be wildly different opinions on the compatibility of your sexuality with Islam, depending on what part of the world you are in (Indonesia vs Iran for example). Iran actually has the second highest rate of gender reassignment surgery in the world (behind only Thailand), so that's a positve. But I don't imagine you would find as much tolerance in some of the Sunni countries... Make of that what you will.

Daphne My understanding is that 'gender reassignment' is not explicitly a sin in Islam, but adultery is.

You will still be subjected to intolerance and descrimination, but Shia communities might be a little more accepting than Sunni in this case... No guarantees though.

(The other girls will be far more knowledgeable here, so listen to them, not me!).

I think at a fundamental level all religions will have some difficulty recognising gender fluidity, but ultimately it's up to you whether you see that as a problem.

If you really consider to become a Muslima you should think about it carefully. The commitment to Islam is something that's not just "giving it a shot" as you say. If you are a Muslima you can't just quit due to the surah 3 verse 86-91 and there are many people who take this verses way to seriously.

then you just have to say and mean the shahada in arab language. you can do that for yourself because Allah and the angels will be your witnesses. If you want to have a document about it you just have to do the same, but in front of two witnesses in a mosque.

What you want to wear is of course your prerogative, the only place where I cover my hair is at the mosque and I am glad that I live in a society that allows me that decision.

not only society. i have heard from many muslims that it is rather the family that attaches a lot of importance to women hiding their hair.

In this forum we lately have some members who justify being locked by thier religious believe, especially by being catholic.
Now, I am catholic myself, that's why it sort of anmoys me to read this ... for me, and probably for most people, chastity has absolutely nothing to do with the catholic church. Yes, people shall not whore around all day and be loyal to their partner, but that doesn't mean you should wear a chastity belt or be punished for stimulation by your son or whatever story trolls tell here.
That's like saying because of my belief I have to have sex all day to have many children and spread the belief... sorry, but this is absurd and peverts the religion.
Uf you want to be belted, like I am, ok, there's nothing wrong about it. But don't search for a religious justification in your lifestyle.

I totally agree.
In my family we are quite Catholic and the truth is that in my case and I think that of the other girls in
the family too, the belt has more to do with "how a girl should behave" than with strictly religious connotations.
As I have already written, I have nothing against a lesbian, but arguing that masturbating is a sin when the person who proclaims it is a lesbian and in a relationship seems disconcerting to say the least.

Maybe I should read what they said but that kind of stuff bores me.

I am a Catholic and agree with the late Sister Wendy (the painting expert) that God made the body and he didn't give us a toy and then tell us not to play with it. Separate from Wendy, the Catholic version of the ten commandments says thou shalt not commit adultery and thou shalt not covet thy neighbors' wife (of course he meant spouse). There is nothing about unattached people fooling around.

My main point is that I too have adopted chastity as a lifestyle but it had nothing to do with being a Catholic and I only wear the belt about six hours a day so the belt isn't making me chaste either. Though I do slip it on late at night when my hands start to wander.

well, i can't speak for myself but my grandma is very religious and for these reasons she also supports the chastity belt, even if it is for completely different reasons than my father. she thinks that masturbation is a sin and that you should only be sexually pleasing to your partner. of course, i don't share these arguments myself.

Max9 Muslims? No. They are on of newest churches. Christianity, Judaism, Budhism, Taoism, Shintoism, indian churches - all are much more older.

Max9 The real issue with a devout Christian and chastity belt use is the same as any other action which a Christian undertakes, it is one of the heart. The heart governs all of our actions and it is the heart which God judges. If you are belted to avoid what you believe to be sin, then before God your intentions are pure and you should have no pang of conscience in church our out of church. There are many Christians who wouldn't understand or who wouldn't be able to separate the use for conscience sake from those who enjoy kink or other reasons for use. But that shouldn't affect how you feel about it, you aren't going out of your way to flaunt your choice.

The Bible talks about those men who castrated themselves in order to avoid sexual temptations that they couldn't control and the apostle Mark cut off his finger so that he was no longer forced to administer at the temple contrary to his conscience. Both of those things were matters of strong conviction and conscience to avoid what they considered or knew to be sin. Wearing a Chastity Belt is not as extreme as these things and in the case of many in this group it is not any less a matter of conscience.

Remember that God judges the hearts and honors your choice in faith to honor him. It is not something you should feel ashamed of in any way.

I agree with what you have said about not having a pang of conscience about wearing a belt. I do believe, however, that if one resists the temptation to satisfy sexual desires without using some artificial means like a belt, then God loves you all the more. Wearing a belt is an invention of the race of men to prevent women from having sex. God wants one to do it with the strength of one's will. It's a better way.

Thomas It's true that the intention is what matters, but that doesn't change the point for the reason that most people wear the belt mainly not because they want to prevent themselves from sinning, but because their keyholder wants them to be submissive towards them. Or they want them / wear them because of some fetish tendencies.
