Caging does not make boys gay. Whether gayness makes boys caged, or just makes them more liberal about sharing their cage use with the world, is a different question, but the category of young males posting online about chastity device use has a higher percentage of gay people than the population average.

Then we have a lot of exceptions. You can't say that belting has not a significant impact on people's life, according to the stories written here. Yours is an example, but here is full of similar stories.
So turning on gay is definitively a possibility.
