Ines I haven't seen it for a long time but I used to like it growing up! A lot of that era is painful to watch, but it's still funny. Like Fawlty Towers... I like that it's uncomfortable viewing. "Film should be like a stone in your shoe!" ;-)

I saw some episodes from Black Mirror and some are better than others, but I don't cope with so many stuff so this series is just in the list for later watching

this recalls one series which is related, but in comedy view, I think is really good:

About Mr Robot, very good, strange and geek oriented also, again, you have to be the proper viewer...
I liked, and doesn't happens like other series which when the things go weird and they don't know how to continue nor end...

Yeah definitely. Some are hard to watch. The thing I like about it though, is that one writer has come up with more original screenplays than all of Hollywood over the last two decades. Every episode is confronting, they really make you think, and they're all wildly different.

As @LoonyMel said, Hollywood just targets the consumer these days. They churn out stuff like superhero movies, Fast and Furious #403 etc etc. Over and over again.

I like that each episode of Black Mirror stands on its own and has something to say.

I do not have anything against American culture, and in fact, a lot of the best ever films are American, but, nowadays, they make trash in a 90%.
Video games adaptation, superhero adaptation, bad adaptation of bad books...

Maximus I think the reboot is very good, except for me: Beyond, at least not so good, maybe because was directed by the guy from Fast&Furious 🤦‍♂️

There was some news about one directed by Quentin Tarantino.He has changed his mind,and I think it's better.No doubt he's a talented director,but not sure he could do well with a sci-fi movie.Especially with a rich background and a big base of fans like Star Trek.

Maximus also most of them are available in prime video, at least in my country

I would take a look if they're available on some streaming platforms!🙂

Sin I think maybe Australian sense of humour is more like British sense of humour. More subtle, as we call it "taking the piss" rather than in-your-face jokes.

I don't watch television very much - I sometimes think I am missing the entertainment gene 🤣 .

I remember a friend insisting I read Harry Potter which I speed read, didn't like, but reminded my of certain parts of my own childhood. Then recently another friend suggested I read a fanfiction Harry Potter. To my utter astonishment I loved it. It was soooo much better than the original! Sadly however you would only appreciate it if you had plowed through the originals (which is a lot to ask 🤣 ).

If any one is interested you can find a PDF of it online for free by Google searching HPMoR (Harry Potter and the Methods of Rationality). Be ware though - there are many versions of the story that only have the first third of it. To get the full effect you have to read it all - which is 120 chapters and some 660,000 words 🤣

Brendan did Velocipastor. I liked it more than any mainstream movie I saw that year.

Also, I like to point that while black mirror was interesting, we had also Futurama. "we are addicted to an extraordinary beverage and we won the ticket to see the secret factory. Oh god we discovered that it comes from the anus of a giant snail-like alien. We will make this public. Wait, if we did we will not have anymore of it. Let's stay silent and keep the secret!". Not so different from our world." Smoke hurts, it bring cancer, it kills, gimme one please. ".

Sometimes some cartoons, before becoming silly, were really brilliant.

While hard things to watch... Well I am always favorable in that sense.

Not to mention the episode where the capsule sent ito space in the 80s reached the aliens and they materialized videogames to attack earth, copied by the terrible movie Pixels.
Or the one where they were eating the offspring of the aliens thinking they were just some street food (with the famous scene of the soy eating trained lion).
Those episodes were all black mirror style.
The key is always the same. Do not do something you know it will sell, do what you really want to do.

most of the time i turn on the tv to watch sports broadcasts or evening talk shows with top politicians

i can't say that much about programs and films. my favorite films are the harry potter films, i would also like to have a magic wand to remove my chastity belt by magic 😂

I'm also very limited when it comes to series. i'm not a big fan of the american series either, but i have two exceptions. on the one hand there is two and a half man (the old episodes with charlie sheen) because i like his humor.

the other is criminal minds because i like the psychological aspect of the serie

I like Tarantino's movies, well, some of them are a bit.. slow, hateful 8 is like a long pain..
But I can't imagine how he could fit in Star Trek.... maybe his witty dialogues? but violence is often limited in these movies, not much play apart of ships destruction and/or damages, not much for Tarantino playing 😂

A season 9 have been ordered,but,due to what happens in season 8's finale,I doubt it would last a lot more.Even more as the show runner has left at the end of season 8.

Let's drop some trivia.
That scene was improvised by Rutger, but the exact amount is not something everybody knew.
It was the last day for both actors (on set, the last day lasted like 27 hours) and they had to perform the jump and the subsequent dialogues.
Harrison Ford was played by a stuntman who wearied his coat and as you remember in that movie it always rained. Between every take Ridley made the troupe wet the coat which was very absorbing and had to look wet.
The fake palaces were like ten meters high, unlike the movie, but still... Dangerous. The stuntman jumped and... He landed short.
As you remember Harrison Ford misses the jump in the movie and manages to just grab the palace with his hands. That is because the stuntman failed and ridley said "I actually prefer the dramatic jump like this.". They had to take it ten times and by the end of it, si ce everytime the performer hurtled his shoulder, he had his arm broken, more or less.
Who did not gave two penny was Rutger instead, which said "you know what? Move those palace one or two meter and I can do the jump easily". Those building were heavy but built on mobile platforms.
Since the product or wanted to hurry and cut the cost they did not care at all about him and just hurried to do it.
"but you know what? I will jump with that bird in my hands since then I will die and I will release it so I can make it seem the innoc..."
"ok, but just do the jump already!!!" hurried Ridgely Scott too.
He performed the jump and did the monologue.
Then a problem arose.
Every time he let the bird go, the bird would just jump to the floor, walk away from the fake rain and then fly. Of course.
So they had to do that scene close and with no rain, with some tricks added.
And then, of course, the monologue which was improvised, but everyone knows this.
