GoodyProctor my only question to you is, how do you do it? How do you put up with being that far into independence and then just allowing yourselves to be locked up like that?

Mainly because refusing to wear it(I can refuse to put it back on,or ask to get the keys and take it off)would have too much bad consequences.If not,I would not wear it.So,as I haven't much choice,I try my best to mange it.It is hard,I still cry of frustration,and fight it a lot,but I know that I would be free of it when I would marry Emilie(but there is some step we want to do before,like being financially independent,living together,etc...);even if we plan to use it as a game,after.

And I'm 26,so not very in my late 20s!😉

Depends on the consequences.

It is very easy to be free of the belt,the consequences are harder to manage.

Angelina I have to check Goody’s lock every time! She’s already made it clear that she’ll take advantage of any opening she gets. It’s quite the little challenge game between us. So far, I’m winning 🙂.

I asked her to check mine frequently as well, because I don’t think I’d have had the willpower to secure it if it was left undone.

i actually find this very important even though i have mixed feelings when my father does it. on the one hand it shows me that he still doesn't trust me 100%, but on the other hand it also shows me how important the whole thing is and therefore how important i am to him. my feelings are very mixed.

This got me thinking. Some of you are in your late 20s or 30s and say you're belted by your parents. I can't even wrap my mind around that. I have a hard enough time just imagining being belted through college. There was a time in my 20s I was vaguely annoyed my mother even had my current address, let along any real authority over me. @Laura, @Renita, @Vanessa -- at least, that who I think I'm thinking of, anyway -- my only question to you is, how do you do it? How do you put up with being that far into independence and then just allowing yourselves to be locked up like that? Of all the things on this forum, that's the thing that just does not compute.

Laura Sort of? I'm not even sure what I'm asking. I guess I just can't even fathom it. Most of what I hear on this forum makes sense on some level or another, even if it seems bizarre. I know firsthand what controlling parents are like. I know what it's like to have your mom dangle tuition over your head when you're a college junior trying to find your own way. But being 31 and locked by parents just breaks my brain when I think about it. It's not that I don't believe it; far from it. If anything, it's so odd that it almost has to be real. I just can't believe how you DO it.

it depends, the main reason for the belt is to concentrate on the more important things in life, maybe my father would set a maximum age someday
