You both make excellent points. I am both crazy and curious about what long term usage is like.
I made some thigh bands that fit (oddly, my left thigh being 2cm smaller in circumference than my right). I'm going to give them a try for a week or two to see what it's like.
They're held on with some nylon webbing, until I decide on the right height and connector length. Placing them 2/3 of the way down my thigh, just below where my hamstring is largest seems to be a good spot. And a 6cm connector does not seem to interfere with my natural stride too much.
