Spork There are some estimates going around that around 2% of adult US males have tried a chastity cage. Probably a bit more in the LGBTQ+ community (probably less so the T, since it is mostly the women wearing cages there) and fewer straight ones, but while that is far from mainstream, that is well into "if you are in any way interested in below-the-belt specialities, you probably heard of it" territory.

Sasha Honestly the biggest harm I see on the dating side are the inequality and the risk that this will promote relationships where partners have no trust in each other. If those factors are mitigated, that could be a viable future.

Penal chastity is probably best left to the realm of fantasy though. With a corrections officer holding the keys, chastity devices sure would fall into cruel and unusual territory quite quickly for many prisoners, and as much fun as that can be when the prisoner is fictional, I do not really buy into the whole "criminal scum deserves no better" stuff.

Sasha But once they become accepted by the mainstream I’d foresee lawmakers taking advantage of it, implementing them instead of prison for various crimes.

i think that the legislator would create new problems for himself, i fear that permanently aroused criminals tend to commit further crimes more quickly
i think the best thing would be that it only becomes mainstrem when it is used as a protection tool in whatever form

A mainstream I'd say top priority is increased security to 100% (high tech metal etc) and remote control by app etc. No undetected escape.

There would of course need tp be safeguards against abuse. especially re minors

I would like a shield that attaches without the additional paraphenalia, like the bum strap and waist band. Just a skin-safe adhesive that holds something like a dome shield in place.

Sin I think it could be possible with implanted pieces on which the shield is fastened. The implants would be placed under the skin and have a wide base so that they cannot be pulled out but are so small that they do not interfere with anything else.

Yes, piercing is always a higher risk for infection.

What you describe is not a normal piercing but is called a dermal anchor.
You want a larger part to remain embedded under the skin. A piercing will most likely heal and once it it completely healed, the risk of infection is only slightly elevated. With a dermal anchor however, the risk for an infection is very high.

Why not? All sorts of scope and potential here. They could program another to be KH or be KH themselves or any combibation.

Could also be time limited, e.g. till wedding or graduation or whatever. IOr till fully paid or anything else.

maybe, but maybe not. a broad public would deal with the topic and the advantages and disadvantages would be discussed honestly. It might also be easier to take action against abuse if the issue and the conditions were known and regulated

Milord If it became mainstream there will be more way to cheat the belt, and there will be tools specifically made to bypass it.

i suspect both, it would be a spiral in which there will be more and more opportunities to break out and more and more security options
