Vanessa Not too bad, it seems; not too easy to break, even involuntarily?
My partner only made the front shield prototype, the back piece (where the cable from either side join, a couple of cable end pieces (to test how easy it was to secure the cable into the plastic (very secure - it has to be smashed with a hammer to get it off) and finally an anal hole piece to see how comfy it might be.
The plastic is extremely light, and the round smoothness feels comfortable and warm around my skin. It is quite tough though I think with some trouble I could cut it off with a sharp knife. We tried to cut through a piece of the plastic the same thickness as the shield. We made headway but in the end we gave up and finished it with a hand saw. It works but it isn't fast. If you saw too fast the plastic actually melts into the cut and as it cools it seals itself up.
There is no way that the plastic would be a secure as the stainless steel, however, attempts to cut it would be obvious. besides, I wear the belt voluntarily so why would I try to cut it off? It would also be dangerous to cut the plastic and it would be easier to use bolt cutters on the cables.
It is highly unlikely you could break it involuntarily. Even hitting it with a hammer is useless unless it is up against something solid like a concrete block. Even with a heavy hammer it took a lot of strikes to smash the cable connector off of the cable. Once it is on your body it would be difficult to hammer it against anything solid.
Vanessa Sorry for you, but good no one was harmed.
We were lucky to escape our house fire with our three dogs.
Vanessa Interesting, mixing the continuous crotch band and the cable one...Your feedback would be interesting.
Once it is finished I will let you know what it is like
Vanessa When do you think it would be done?
They haven't started repairs to the house yet because the permit process is slow because of COVID. We think they may start in a month or so and then it may take six months. Only then will my partner be able to get her workshop up and running again. Once she has a new 3D printer she doesn't think it will take more than a week.
She has finished the design that she wishes to make - though it would be a prototype and when tried it may need revision. If anyone is interested it may be possible for her to make a picture of what she has in mind, though I don't know it it would be possible to show it here.
