audioguy58 Open The Door - Magnapop Am I The Same Girl? - Swing Out Sister (1) Be My Number Two - Joe Jackson (1) A reworked version of the circa-1965 instrumental Soulful Strut, by Young Holt Unlimited. Not sure if it should be counted as a cover.
audioguy58 On the subject of covers, I remember being quite surprised a number of years ago when I learned that Chrissie Hynde wasn’t the author of Thin Line Between Love And Hate. That song was written and recorded by The Persuaders in 1971.
Joh I like Walk off the Earth. They cover several songs in interesting ways. Hello Somebody That I Used to Know
Sin audioguy58 Highlands - Middle Kids Start Chopping - Dinosaur Junior Hell n Back - Bakar Good choices.
Sin On the topic of cover songs, Australia's national broadcaster (Triple J) has a weekly segment called "Like a Version". They recently had a poll to find the top 100 covers from the last two decades. The DMAs won with their epic acoustic version of Cher's "Believe"... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MmwFnoMoDDg Full list here: https://www.abc.net.au/triplej/hottest100/lav/1-100 There's some great songs in there... Billy Eilish's cover of Michael Jackson's "Bad" is pretty cool considering she was only a kid when it was recorded.
Sin Here's some more Aussie music you've probably never hear of... Hometown heroes And this one is for Valadar.
Avery Saturday night... Better one... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0qcJlpqnvXE https://www.youtube.com/shorts/DyalUesnCsA
Sin WriterAlexis it was more the "Guided by Angels" lyrics I was referring to! You just know he's not into anything that cool though... It would be some god-awful Christian rock or something.
Angelina WriterAlexis I always thought the neo nazis were more heavy metal than punk. have experienced both, right-wing punks and left-wing metalheads. at least among younger people, the music scene no longer has the political significance it once did
youdontknowme See also: people who called themselves Rage Against the Machine fans turning their backs on the band because Tom Morello has "gone woke". Many have wondered what those fans thought was the machine they were raging against. Toasters and inkjet printers are popular choices..
Angelina youdontknowme Sometimes it's really interesting how few "fans" can separate politics and music. I've often been to concerts myself where I don't like the artist's political views, but I still enjoy the music
WriterAlexis Angelina I don't like the artist's political views, but I still enjoy the music RIP Toby Keith would be a timely reply; alas I never liked the music.
youdontknowme Irrelevant by P!NK came up on the radio again. Somehow that song reminds me of @WriterAlexis...
WriterAlexis youdontknowme Lyrically accurate description of my sentiments; titularly accurate description of my station.
youdontknowme WriterAlexis Yeah, not trying to call you irrelevant or anything. Only made to feel small by those in power. Ignorant? No more than those who try to keep you small. Insignificant? Only when left on your own. Heretic? I'll let you be the judge of that yourself.
