They have cancelled the one-child rule. But the population is still ageing. I don't think they will require wearing a CB. It would be counter productive.

Nah, the opportunities for sex depend on your social credit score and proximity to party functionaries. Be a good little puppet for the state and you can get unlocked every week if your contraception is up to date. Be married to a big name in the party and you do not need to wear the belt at all. But say something bad about the government once and the belt gets welded shut.

Joh china's population is literally like a third of the earth's population, if they were to do it they'd likely only enforce it on ethnic minorities they don't like. Considering the political human rights issues in china, i don't see this being too far off actually.

zbovka In fact, the status of ethnic minorities in China is higher than that of the Han nationality, they have more support policies, and there is no so-called ethnic oppression.
If I have to say yes, I can assure you that every Han people think that they are inferior to ethnic minorities, and many children born of marriage between Han and ethnic minorities are registered as ethnic minorities to enjoy preferential policies.

i almost thought so, but didn't know that india is now before chine. But I have to say that there is simply not enough space for so many people in both countries.

With globally connected economies, the issue is not so much the space in a single country (even though Indian cities are extremely crowded by our standards). But the the actual issue is how many people our planet can sustain in the long run. Currently we are using more of pretty much everything than the planet can regenerate. In other words - what we do can only go on for so long and once ressources are exhausted, we are in trouble.

It is not only feeding. It is the use of each and everything this planet provides.
Example is fossile energy. And I am not talking abour greenhouse gas now but about availability.
If you burn wood, you cannot burn more wood than you grow trees or you go into deforestation with all the negative effects this has.
Fossile energy is pretty much wood (or plant matter in general) that was grown long ago and when it is used up, we cannot easily renew it.
Same with sand that is used for construction (concrete). Desert sand is too fine and cannot be used for that and already today it is forseable, that sand of a quality that can be used for construction will actually be in short supply in a not too distant future (definitely within our lifetime).
And that goes for metals, minerals, everything.

we have to replace the resources we use immediately. this means that for every tree that is felled, a new one has to be planted, etc. then we would not get into difficulties.

Well, if it was that simple. Trees take a very long time to grow. An oak tree that has the same circumference as your body, you are looking at an age of 100+ years easily. So only because you plant a new one immediately, it will take another 100 years until you can consider it an adequate replacement.
Cutting down 100 old trees and just small freshly planted sapplings as a replacement if not enough.

I suggest you do it the other way round:
No logging of existing trees anymore. You only harvest what you have grown. Plant your sappling and then wait until they have reached the desired size and only then you are permitted to harvest.

but that wouldn't work because we would have starved to death or something by then, but i think @Ines is right, we should put an end to that now and just talk about chastity from china
