bdsamm Congratulations. It was and "interesting" game. The Cards were awful. Very sloppy play. Fumbles, interceptions, etc. If you recorded it, it is worth watching. I missed part of the third quarter because I wanted to watch something else. Have a good dayl

7AM here now. I just kind of fast-forwarded through the second half. It's good to see them making use of rookies like Pierre Strong, Jr., whom I had never heard of, and Kevin Harris. Defense was good though the Card's offense is not so good and Arizona had their backup in there. It's nice Pats are back in the top seven so the playoffs are still a possibility but we will see. Many feel it will come down to the last game against Buffalo. If the Bills have clinched the #1 seed they may rest people giving NE a chance to win a game they probably will need to get into the playoffs. See ya.

Not sure whether you follow college sports as much of the pros. NCAA has just announced retiring MA Governor Charlie Baker has been appointed NCAA president starting in March. Interesting to me since I run in the NCAA and he's been our governor for 8 years and we saw a lot of him during covid. Not sure what the NCAA president does. Probably has more effect on football and basketball since that's where the money is.

Avery The local university here is has been very big in basketball but recently got some NCAA sanctions, They are also tryiny g to improve their football but not much luck so far.

I looked for running and it is almost like a sideline. They have it but hard to follow and no news coverage. Maybe the girls need shorter shorts. (Just kidding)

It certainly isn't a major sport. I believe you're in the Mountain time zone. So in cross-country at the NCAA Women's Championship there is BYU 2nd in 21, won in 20, 2nd in 19; Colorado won in 18, 2nd in 15; New Mexico won in 15, 2nd in 18. So the Mountain teams are holding their own.T BYU seems to push all sports. Kind of a muscular Christian thing maybe, like the Chariots Of Fire movie.

Avery BYU is definitely a sports school and they seem to do very well. The University where I live is known as a bit of a party school and that may hurt their ability to attract top athletes. But they did very well in basketball a few years back until the coach retired.

The Patriots have been practicing in Tucson, AZ before heading up to Las Vegas to face the Raiders.

Right. The sports talk TV shows have been doing segments most of the week from the workouts. Of course, the press is barred from a lot of the pre-game workouts.

Lots of talk about the Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels having been the Pats offensive coordinator and Mac Jones coach last year and why this year Mac Jones has not made the progress people hoped. Also, the Raiders record is mediocre and two of the Pats top advisers Matt Patricia and Joe Judge were former Pats coaches and both were fired last year as head coaches by Detroit and NY Giants respectively so why don't Belichick proteges succeed.

We need this game. With Cincinnati and Buffalo on the schedule playoff hopes are dim if we don't win here.

Avery Yes, you have a better chance here than with Buffalo or Cincinniti. But you never know.

The Chiefs did not get off to a very good start but they are looking better now.

They have so much fire power it almost seems it doesn't matter if they get behind.

Avery Well, their ball handling is a bit sloppy and their hair triger tempers are causing some penalties. Now add in a missed PAT and they really need to get serious.

I just saw the missed kick on NFL Gameday Live. The game is not on in Boston, at least not on the regular networks. So they show the highlights on Gameday and of course they show the TD pass. Nice catch. Then they show them line up for the kick which is strange because its supposed to be highlights, and then he misses, so I guess it was a highlight.

So, another AFC West title for the Chiefs. Good finish to the game. @Avery

Avery Yes, but I sure would not say they played well. They just had some really lucky breaks at the right times. Good luck with the Patriots.

Incredible, if you haven't seen it. 24-24, three seconds left, Pats have the ball on about their 30. They try one of these sort of hail-mary stunts where one guy runs with the ball and then tosses it to another who tosses it to another. Except one of the tosses is intercepted by a Las Vegas player who runs for a touchdown. Vegas wins 30-24.

                    C'est incroyable.

bdsamm "obviously you are in a liberal state. In some states, the cops spend half their time busting prostitutes. As your Patriots Owner found out down in Florida. Don't know how Kraft came out on that but it was ridiculous. Here they keep after the massage parlors but more or less as a sideline."

Moved this so we don't incur Ines' wrath. The cops' rationale was, I think, that in a nearby community there was evidence of sex trafficking in a massage parlor, so the cops in the town where Kraft got caught were playing catch up and started watching local shops.

Kraft dodged the bullet in a legal sense, I gather because the cops were taping everyone and, generally, one must have reason to tape a particular individual, else the evidence is not admissible. Also, there was no evidence, apparently, that Kraft solicited a sex act, which is the crime involved. No doubt he was smart enough not to articulate his desires. It is said that the signal is to come into the cubicle and remove all one's clothes and then lie on one's back, rather than don a towel and lie on one's stomach.

No doubt he was embarrassed at the time. Just this summer he began again giving interviews to small, hand-picked groups of reporters. Of course, no one mentioned the incident. It helps that his son now runs the club so he really doesn't have to talk. He also married a well-known doctor in recent months so he has seemingly got back out into polite society.

Franco Harris is dead. I, of course, was not around then but they've been playing the immaculate reception all day on twitter and even on CNBC. Interesting that Terry Bradshaw is still quite active on football broadcasts and sports talk-type shows. Two days short of 50 years I believe.

Avery The Chiefs and the Patriots both have home games on Saturday. Supposed to be 19 degrees in KC. Maybe will be a bit warmer in New England.

21°F and sunny says the forecast. Both games are on TV in Boston, but against each other. I enjoy watching the Chiefs some. Better quality football than we are getting here these days.
