It is certainly not, but I stand by my original statement about bringing shame. Jane had sex with the married father of one of the boys in her class. This became a major scandal to those who knew about it, ultimately forcing Monica to pull her daughter out of that school and enroll her elsewhere. "Shame" I believe is an excellent word choice here.
youdontknowme From what you are telling, Monica has unilaterally altered a deal whose consent was already questionable at the best of times in her favor, because she did not like the freedom it left Jane. I would consider that abusive.
No, that is not what happened. Monica and Jane had an agreement that she would wear the belt when going out in the evenings and on weekends, when Monica thought that Jane would be most sexually active. Jane initially accepted the arrangement, but ultimately stopped wearing it, which has led to the current round of hostilities.
I am not here to defend Monica and do agree that she essentially tricked her daughter into getting fitted for a belt and then ordering it. I made similar mistakes but I had the advantage of having two girls that love and respect me and my decisions on what is best for them. Monica, on the other hand, has a rebellious daughter who seems determined to lash out by using sex as a weapon to get attention. A chastity belt will address the symptoms, but not provide the cure. It is an imperfect solution to a much deeper problem.
As a mostly passive, and occasional active observer, I feel badly for both of them. It is my belief that if Jane wore the belt, it would at least prevent future issues so maybe they could get maybe get to the root causes of Jane's destructive behavior.
