I will try to explain better. Of course Italy is a large country, so I'm talking about the culture I live in.
If removing the belt means that you break with your family, we are talking about a toxic family
I hope that everyone agrees with this, because its an emotional blackmail
In such a situation a lot of things happen: Relatives network will step out to protect the young one from what is essentially an abuse. In Italy families are often large, not nuclear.
The same will do the friends, parents friends, neighborhood and so on.
The fact is that I'm much more open-minded than most people I talked with, and after asking if I was joking, tell me that it is an abusive behavior and that it should be deferred to police or child abuse.
Since all of you go a great deal to hide the fact that you are belted, I suppose that your community will not support it either, but I will talk only on the specific community.
Breaking up with family is always a bad thing, but if you are fleeing from abusive parents, and getting a lot of help, its an accepted behavior, encouraged too.
