Hello everybody,
I'm Owl, forty-something / male, from Europe. Registered more than a year ago, following the forum, irregularly. Sometimes just skimmed through some threads, sometimes read a bit more, as time and everyday life permitted. I intend to contribute in the future, so it's time for this introduction, finally.
I expect my role to be that of an advisor, chastity learner, maybe advocate, and - if then fits- a capable, future keyholder. Hopefully, some of the experiences I might share will be useful for some of you. As for me, even my silent time in this forum felt like an instructive time and a time of insights.
Which is a good opportunity to address some general appreciation: All in all, I've found the forum a great community. I like how people from all over the world get together, here - despite natural differences and very different cultural, legal, or religious backgrounds. At first glance, that seems like an impossible mission.
Often comical and terrible at the same time: The exact same things that are legal, expected , actively promoted, or even enforced in some of the countries / regions / groups we live in, are discouraged, ridiculed, forbidden or even punished in other places we come from!
It seems particularly true when it comes to everything related to sexuality, and it's not always easy to see the right path.
What might be normal and fine for some (for instance, just take same-sex behaviour or even -marriage) might be taboo or forbidden in some jurisdictions. A complex of topics, such as virginity, being able to resist sexual approaches, or being married -- that is a huge one for many of you and indeed enormously important in many countries, up to being a legal requirement for certain official acts -- might go completely unnoticed for others or given away without any concerns.
It's a strange world, fascinating and terrifying at the same time. Determining and keeping the right course stays a life-task. And even if you believe to stay on that course or upholding a virtue, new events could occur that shake prior beliefs. Or you might stay convinced, but your highest virtues just bring you incomprehension from relevant parts of society, sometimes open rejection. Quite a substantial number of the topics i've looked into seem to deal with these ongoing conflicts.
And still, somehow all-in-all cooperation apparently works at UWC. I see chastity enthusiasts , sceptics, admonishers and converts, the ones who live it rather a sort of business deal, besides the occasional "devil's advocate" :-). Seeing you finding ways around the differences and providing an immense amount of mutual support is really astonishing.
[Will add a bit more soon.]
