curious Hate to burst your bubble, but all that has from the beginning always been about power and influence, never about world peace.
No bubble to burst. I was making a cynical little joke, like "here we go again." :-\

You would think the "league of nations" reference would have made that obvious.
maybe (and now just an idea), the UN could be replaced by a democratically elected peace committee
Angelina
The issue is, that we are stuck in a situation with no way out.
The United Nations Assembly is not the problem. Unfortunately this is effectively just a place to talk. All UN member states are represented etc, but it is completely without power.
Power is in the UN Security Council, only here binding resolutions about sanctions etc can be made.
And only the security council has the power to abolish itself to allow a replacement by something else.
Now, if you are one of the permanent members with veto power, why would you ever give up that power to allow the security council to be replaced by something where you will most definitely have less power and influence?
curious And even if we could come up with a replacement outside of the existing UN treaties, what good would it do? The UNSC has no power other than the one granted by its members. As much as it declares its resolutions binding, the only thing that enforces them is the fact that five of the economically and militarily strongest nations either agree with them or at least accept them.
Please discuss politics in political topics only
i agree with you and that is exactly why i am in favour of a committee made up of people from different countries who, through elections, are given the authority to make decisions and can also enforce them.
PS: i think @Laura is right, we shouldn't talk about politics here, does anyone have any tips for back pain? as i've been sitting a lot the last few days i'd be grateful for help.
With young people, most frequent reasons for backpain are in my experience:
1) Muscle tensions (reason for that is frequently back muscles not strong enough so the start to get into a constant state of tension when "overused".
2) Bloackage in the illio-sacral-joints
In both cases exercises are the best treatment.
Disc prolapse or something even more serious are absolute rarities in the age group under 30 if there are no very specific risk factors (e. g. i.v. drug users have a higher risk of a serious condition called spondylodiscitis).
thank you, very interesting
curious I probably could help you but once I have examined you and know what's the cause. Only problem : that does not work online.
yes, so my pain is in the lower left and that is after sitting for a long time (about 4 hours). i know it is difficult online, i am just asking for some general tips.

that can be, the last few days i've been feeling quite tense in general, it's also due to the stress.
Tour de France is back. Starting in SPAIN this morning an hour ago New York time. Such a beautiful thing visually.
That scenery along the Corniche Basque today was just mind-blowing.
From a local newspaper, the local professional American football team, New England Patriots, who play at Gillette stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, will be exchanging hospitality with a German Fußball team when they come here to play soccer and they will return the favor when we go to Frankfurt to play American football in November. Interesting, I thought.
From the newspaper article:
"The Patriots and Germany's men's national soccer team will host each other this fall, as both have plans to play games abroad. Gillette Stadium will welcome the German team the week leading up to its friendly against the United States on Oct. 14 at Pratt & Whitney Stadium in Hartford. Then, the Patriots will train at the German Football Association campus ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts at Frankfurt Stadium on Nov. 12.
“Over the past few years, we have been in close contact with clubs from the NFL, collaborating and sharing best practices with each other," Dr. Holger Blask, managing director of the German Football Association, said in a statement. “We are proud to partner with one of the NFL's most successful franchises. The New England Patriots have dominated their sport over the past two decades and have contributed to the global growth in the popularity of American football.
“We look forward to traveling to the United States in October and using the Foxborough training facility to prepare for our match in New England."
