          We're in the middle of a heatwave (40°+) and I couldn't go to the beach today, and now I can't sleep because my delightful partner is working away and can't (or won't) login to open the lockbox.

          I tried a cold shower which worked for a little while, but now it's just gross and stickier than before. :-(

            Another heatwave and it's +48° where my partner is (all week)... Payback is a bitch! It will probably hit 50° on Saturday.

            It's actually messed up, so many places becoming uninhabitable. I'm in the far south of the state where it's much colder, and it's already 43° at 10am. It's nuts. When you open the door to go outside it feels like opening an oven door.

            On the plus side, no belt = beach time!

                That's really hot. How are you and your child holding up? And how warm does it get in the house when it's that hot outside? Air conditioning can't transport an infinite amount of heat out of the house either.

                    Joh I should clarify 48° is up north in the desert, thankfully anything over 40° is quite rare down here. It's okay if you don't have to do anything, we went to the beach first thing this morning and it was beautiful. Now it's siesta time indoors. Our house is okay, but a lot of people are doing it tough.

                        When I lived in Melbourne there were also winds from inland and we had over 40°C on several days. As the house I lived in was just brick with single glazed windows it got just as warm inside. I went to the local library and tried to work there. It was a compromise but not really a solution.
                        I hope your husband doesn't get cooked when it's 50°C at work.

                            Something tells me he will be on the next flight home as it's just too dangerous to have people working up there in this heat. It's pretty rare to be getting those kinds of temperatures.

                              Sin Darn, 48-50 is hot. 40 degrees in summer with 100% humidity is our norm.
                              But the house is well insulated so easy enough to keep it a happy 24 inside.

                                  Sasha where are you based? We get a few days over 40 each year, but it's usually a very dry heat.

                                      Sin South East US, 38-40 with near 100% humidity is our normal summer down here.
                                      However, its 15 at the moment and most people are freezing their butt off lol. Yay, more beach time for me.

                                              Joh Only 60F, not to cold, not for me and my siblings anyway. The rest of the state though, you'd think we were suddenly in the arctic lol.
