I don't know many places(I was often in holidays near the Atlantic coast or in mountains),and telling the ones I know would help a bit to locate me.😉

But an advice would be to not choose towns made mainly for tourists,but more ancient villages.There would be tourists too during summer but less,and I think these towns are more pleasant.If you want a place more known,but with a lot of tourists " La côte d'Azur" and especially "Saint Tropez" is well known(but expensive);never went here myself.

Yes it's a little expensive indeed, but in my opinion it's definitely the best region in France. My family owns a studio that is available for short period renting. If you are interested let me know, I will get you a friendly rate 😉
