Angelina Yes, but there is an important difference in this example and the current virus situation.
In your example it is clear that both way will work in general and it is clear that a chastity belt is secure enough.
We don't have such a situation when it comes to Corona. Nobody knows the best way, nobody knows exactly what is the optimal way between freedom and prevention.
We just don't know well enough if there is a less restrictive way that could also work and if so, we don't know this way.
It's always easy to say that something is to restrictive, but I haven't heard a better solution so far. The infection rate is higher then for a flu, the death rate is higher, the time where you can infect others while you don't feel ill is longer. All this is speaking against much more freedom.
I think the way they currently go is for sure not perfect but the best they can do. Slowly they reduce the limitations to see what happens, if it is good it stays and they try the next thing. If it is bad, it needs to stay restricted. It is a slow process because it needs 6 days until the change is visible and this is also a big risk.
