varies according to the field, the doctorate is the only one that hasn't changed much after the bologna process. some have completed the doctorate after 2 years, others after 10 years (after the actual studies). but it also depends on how much you work besides your own research.

Yes,I think 3 years is the average(or the minimum in France).But right,it could take much more than 3 years.And the fact it is partly working too make it a bit different than classical studies,sure.

most of the time you have an advantage if you work at the university. i have often thought about it myself but my plan is rather to do a master and then work. but dr.angelina sounds good, doesn't it? 😉

What would be the benefit of a Master or a PhD compare to Bachelor?
Would you earn more money during you work life when you sum it up?
If it worth to spend additional time for it?

i talked to my father about it, i want to work with him after my studies. he can imagine two salary levels. the lower one if i "only" do the bachelor's and the higher one if i do the master's. let's say that what i would earn at the beginning with the master's, i would get in 10 years at the earliest with only the bachelor's. the doctorate wouldn't bring me more money, it would only be for my own ego. 😉

You have to calculate it in another way. Let say you need additional 3 years for the master. Now you sum your earning with the bachelor for the tree years including rise because of more experience. How long would it need to come even in sum when you start with master.

so there are two tables that go over 15 years, after that i have reached the salary peak, if i calculate over the next 20 to 30 years (i know optimistically), i come to a higher total earnings after the master's. and without giving too exact numbers, with a master's degree i would earn about 500€ more at any time, the 2 years i lose at the beginning i have back in a few years
