Avery Yeah, glass shower enclosures are nice, prevent that "curtain getting sucked onto the butt" issue. But they are far from universal here.
Those "free-standing closets" are known as wardrobes in English, the German word roughly translates as "dress cabinet". I feel like being built into the wall is kinda part of the definition of a closet.
Wall plugs are an interesting topic, particularly the little rivalry with the British regarding safety. British plugs have built-in fuses and the sockets have a more reliable safety shutter system, German ones are less likely to act as caltrops. Polarization is a hot topic, British plugs are polarized, German ones are not. Whether that really affects safety or just makes power switches cheaper is up for debate, and probably depends on how much you use power outlets for Edison screw light fixtures. We pretty much agree that both are vastly safer than the NEMA 5-15 plugs in North America though, and you can probably only get away with them because of your 115 V mains.
If you want another everyday item that differs a lot between America and Germany, I recommend looking into casement windows. Our windows swivel open or tilt, which is nice for letting a breeze through while still being easy to clean from inside, but it does make putting in an air conditioner a lot more difficult.
