confusion and pride at the same time
Angelina if everyone thinks like that, mankind dies out,
That is precisely why I am so strongly in favor of people not having children. There are enough humans in this world, not making more of them is the only way to bring that number down without killing anyone
Angelina here i disagree, if everyone thinks like that, mankind dies out, every human being is something special and every child is a gift of nature
I meant us personally, neither of us want a whole tribe of little snot muppets running around! Having children is a HUGE decision and far too many people start having multiple kids with no real consideration as to how they will pay for food, housing, clothing, school etc etc. I couldn't imagine breeding in my 20s, it would have been completely irresponsible relying on others for our child's welfare.
Joh When have you in mind to get one?
definitely much later than my wedding, i think not for another 10 years or so, that's not so easy even for a lesbian couple
youdontknowme There are enough humans in this world,
yes, but not enough sensible people and if i can help to increase the number of sensible people i am happy to do so.
of course you should only have children if you are ready to carry this responsibility, i know from my own experience with my mother that not everyone can do that. but i think that you are a reasonable person and therefore you are able to take care of one or more children. the financial aspect is of course another issue.
Saintprudence I just want to say that I unironically love how far afield this conversation has strayed from the original topic!
Yes, it went far away from the intended topic, but... I hope it is ok to get it a bit back.
My Mom and I talked and we decided that I won't get a break till the end of Ramadan and that I'll be wearing my thigh bands except for school time.
Megan If you own this medical insurance, you are definitely a happy person. Anybody else just pays to much money for her/his health care. Just have a look at most western European countries. We pay so much less for our health care for a better service, even if you include the taxes that are used for the medical system. From what I have heard, everything is 2-3x more expensive in the us for the exact same service with the exact same qualification. We have also health care for almost everyone and almost everything is covered. Without long waiting times, at least when it is necessary/mandatory and without getting a bill afterwards that will destroy your financial situation and make you a homeless person because you have to sell anything you own.
There is no need to go to the right hospital, call the right ambulance or wait until you can't stand it any longer. I think at least the German system is much better than the American, even if it's far away from being perfect.
Oh, please bring this thread back to its intended topic!
I wish you strength during the Ramadan. Do you have a fixed chain length, or can it be adjusted depending on what you are doing?
Did you ever consider what I suggested before, that your mother decides when you have breaks with random intervals, so you don't know when to expect the next? (Obviously outside of the Ramadan period)

The chain length is fixed to a distance of 15 cm in between of the rings. They are a constant reminder of their presence and it isn't easy to wear them for a longer time, but with that length I am not walking in snail-speed or it isn't overly dangerous to trip when I'm walking or going stairs. Yes, I thought about it, but I didn't consider it to be the right thing for me.

Sounds good. Why not for school though?
Amira The chain length is fixed to a distance of 15 cm in between of the rings.
This seems a bit long in my opinion
Maija Why not for school though?
Because it is more complicated to hide the thigh bands than it is to hide just the belt and I wouldn't want anyone to know about it.

Hm... I guess it as well depends on the height of the rings on the legs, but I consider it short enough, and shorter wouldn't increase security just the factor of annoyance would raise.
Sara2001 Yes, and this has nothing to do with social security which is a necessary preparation for a fair contract between a company and an employee. If this is not given, the employee is dependent on the money from the job and therefore has no realistic opportunity to survive, while the company can just hire someone else. I talk about people without a good qualification. These people are a big group and not all of them can get a better qualification,.for example simply because they are not smart enough.
a welfare system is not there to put pressure on employers or to replace qualifications. you really can almost always train these days. a welfare system is there to help people who are out of work in the SHORT TERM. and yes, I wrote that in capital letters on purpose because that is the problem.
Sara2001 If everyone has always the opportunity to say no, it's a truly free market
exactly, but i don't have the option to say no if i don't want someone to get my money. if you need something, you are welcome to ask me, but i don't like to be forced to do so by the state.
sorry, maybe @Laura can split it when she has time
Amira My Mom and I talked and we decided that I won't get a break till the end of Ramadan and that I'll be wearing my thigh bands except for school time.
why such strict rules? because of your fasting time? you already fast enough outside ramadan
anyway have a nice time, i know it's a very high festival for you muslims
Amira Yes, I thought about it, but I didn't consider it to be the right thing for me.
may i ask why? i actually thought @carg's idea was quite good
Amira Because it is more complicated to hide the thigh bands than it is to hide just the belt and I wouldn't want anyone to know about it.
with a long skirt, actually no problem, but even better for you
