I understand your concerns and thank you for your empathy. However, I think that the main issue is that you view this matter from a feminist perspective.
The virginity tests are an ancient Turkish tradition and have helped me a lot to guard my private parts. They do not hurt at all and take only a few minutes. We usually perform them each Saturday. At the beginning, we go to my parent's sleeping room, I get undressed, lay down on my back and bend my knees. My mother softly pulls my labia then and examines my hymen. After a few minutes, I get dressed again.
Modern Turkish families are quite progressive and have decreased the number of regular tests a lot. They also let all their virginity tests be performed by a doctor.
Examined women have a very high esteem in Turkish society and I do not know a single Turkish girl who is unhappy with her tests. They grant us respect and protect us against bad defamation.
