Gallium itself is safe to play around with, which I encourage everyone to do. I mean you can have literal liquid metal on your hands without burning yourself. It feels so surreal. Just wash your hands afterwards, because its mildy corrosive and can cause damage to your eyes if it gets into them. However it is not poisenous.
The aluminum-gallium or gallium-steel mixtures that are created once the gallium react with the metal are not dangerous either. However they are incredibly unstable. You can break 1.2 Inch Steelbars as if they were some chocolate. (Thats actually a really good comparison now that I think about it).
