Hi I've got a line on my skin from the side of my front shield. It's not red or sore, it's just the skin is a bit different and it doesn't go away. The skin is a bit shiny and looks nearly like old person skin. It's where the shield presses the most. Doesn't bother me, but like will it fade? How long will that take?

I can say the younger you are the faster things heal and go away. I use Shea Butter for skin problems around and under my belt.

I was wearing my belt, ate too much over several days... The belt got tight. (I did not think it was TOO tight). I got a bruise that went all around my waist following the belt and it also started down the front shield. It never hurt at all.

6 months later it is finally starting to really fade. Getting old is the pits for quick recovery (almost 60).

Jen if it's metal touching your skin it could be your skin reacting. This happens with piercings often. Shouldn't happen with high quality surgical stainless steel though. If it's from the neoprene or silicone lining it's likely a fungal infection like tinea, aka "jock itch". A cream from the chemist will sort it out in a couple of weeks. It's common in people who do a lot of sports and especially in the tropics.

I use skin care moisturizer every time the belt comes off. I do have some marks near the band but nothing that hurts or looks bad. I suspect that many of us will have permanent marks. If it doesn’t itch or look raw like skin is breaking you should be ok.

Difficult to tell without actually having a look.
My best guess is, that the side of the shield creates physical stress on the skin and the body reacts in the most natural way, creating a thicker layer of cornea. Very similar to what happens on the inside of your hands (compared to the outside) or at the soles of your feet.

skin problems can always occur with the belt, i am a little surprised that it is still happening now because you have had the belt for a long time. i sometimes use a wound ointment, but it is best to ask at the pharmacy. wear the belt a little less the next few days and if it does not get better, go to the doctor.
hope it will be better soon 🙂

Sin not itchy, doesn't bother me at all.

curious yeah I think it's the pressure but my skin looks thinner not thicker - it's hard to see myself but in a photo it mostly just looks a bit more shiny. Actually I can feel one side of it - a bit of a thicker ridge.

Corneum substrate is the outermost layer of the epidermis. Summarizing a lot, it is a layer of dead cells that has barrier tasks.
        In my case,
In many years I have never had big scratches from the belt, I have had some small ones and pressure marks. The secret is to treat the skin every day, a lot of hygiene and cream.
That's why I always say that hygiene breaks are essential.
With the thigh bands I did have a serious chafing problem from using them for a long time while I was studying.

my mistake, yes. Anatomically it is called stratum corneum.
When the skin is under physical stress, the outer layer of cells just dies but remains as a protective layer in place for the cells underneath.
A bit white and shiny would just suggest that this dead layer is kind of polished by further rubbing of the belts edge.
That feeling of a slight ridge being there indicates the same. In the absence of any pain or reddening I think this is completely harmless and actually good for long time / permanent wear because the body is protecting itself.
But do not expect to get rid of these marks any time soon, they last for years.

Hmm well it's in a spot no-one will see - not till I'm married!

Ines I'll try cream. Do you have any pressure marks or does cream prevent them?
Should I get a steroid cream or just moisturiser?

⚕️ Very good advice as always....

I only got some very bad infection once when I was very young and it was not a vaginal infection. I had a very hard sweat from lotsa exercise and I was so tired from taking a melatonin so I fell asleep still wearing sweaty clothes.
My stupid laziness caused me to grow athletes foot which spread up my shins and eventually up under my shield.
Like @Ines said this was easily cured with anti-fungal cream.

I have the same thing that @Jen is describing in that where the shield, band, and coated chains rests polishes my skin over time to it is extra smooth and even a bit reflective there. Personally it isn't red on me so I prefer the polished look never goes away.
I also have done the painless and affordable hair removal called "sugaring" so many times that I do not grow hair on my armpits, around my anus, in between my anus and vagina or on my legs. Sugaring works a little bit better if you do it by rolling it into your hair with the sugar slightly warm from working a ball of the sugar gel into a circle and letting stick only to the hair you wish to remove and not your skin.
A quick update on sugaring: I was unbelted earlier and I have regrown a thin triangle of hair above my mound and I will just leave it for awhile. A thin shot bit of hair here will not cause the hygiene issues that hair other places will and nobody needs a super bushy hair it will never be comfortable no matter what.
This is kind of personal but I mention this only because many girls who had laser were afraid of the idea that they would have no choice with how they wear their hair years later and she still wanted to express herself. With sugaring you can grow back hair but it is a smoother tamer hair and you do NOT have to worry about painful ingrown hairs. You also do NOT have to worry about getting burned with a laser especially as I am a slightly fair skinned white woman even if I have dark hair, and sometimes tan a bit during the summer.

I think everyone belted or not should know a bit about sugaring. Please share some of the tutorials you like.
The only difference in how I apply the sugar gel is instead of doing strips and pulling I gently roll it into balls when I remove hair near my vagina and I melt the sugar around the hair without touching my skin or my vagina with the sugar.

Megan I just keep trimmed not shaved - not worth the ingrowns. The sugaring sounds good I'll try.

I do the same except I shave during bikini season. Have a nice winter bush now, of course I'm on the other side of the world from you. Envy the pics I see from down under on Instagram.

a general recommendation from girls who get skin problems because of the belt (or other things). if you notice red, itchy or painful spots on your body, just try to take a photo of them. show it to the pharmacy and ask if a remedy helps. if it doesn't get better after more than a week, go to the doctor.

                Abby82

                It is totally painless.
In my family, since the laser was discovered, all of us use this technique, but sugaring is a great option.

As a guy I was very reluctant to shave. But as a wear a chastity cage now and hair get caught, I broke down and shave. If I do so frequently I have all sorts of problems but doing so only once every 2 weeks causes only itching for 2 days then I’m fine.
I use a aveeno lotion morning and night after showers and I get no rashes.
I’m allowed out of the belt for “activity’s” or every 2 weeks for more intense cleaning and cleaning of the equipment, whatever comes sooner.
Only every 2 weeks works fine given my anatomy and equipment.

Does anyone on this forum use an epilator? If so, what are their experiences?

                • Ines replied to this.

                  Angelina

I use it. Cold wax and recently I have one of light pulse.
You can have laser in all the zones, in most delicate parts you need cold wax and clamp. 😒

                    Ines

Just so I understand correctly, do you mean laser and epilator as synonyms, so both are the same?
