i had a similar situation with my best friend, she once saw a part of the belt and since then she knows all about it. but she is also the only friend who knows about it and it is good to have someone to talk to about it. 🙂

other than that, i can't say that things have really failed, as an involuntary wearer, i've always taken great care not to have any avoidable emergencies. the silicone on the waistband was changed once. otherwise I can think of another unpleasant experience with the thighbands, but that doesn't fit the thread here

Not with the kind of shears from a usual household or garden. I had to shorten a chinese cable belt once and was surprised how much resistance the cables put up against my side cutters (and I'm a beachvolley player with hands roughly double the size of hers). The FancySteel cables are a bit stronger than the chinese cables, and the front cables of her belt were additionally protected with FS' little stainless tubes.
So yes, she could have ordered cable shears from amazon and cut the back cable of her FS belt to win back some of her freedom, but the (steel rolled) waist part of the classic FS belt she wore would still have to be removed by professionals.

When we went to the winter NCAA championships in March when we got to the arena we were informed we had to provide a urine sample. Usually, I go into an ordinary rest room to remove my belt before going into the locker room to change but they would not allow this because they would fear you want to be alone so you can cheat the test. So I had to go into the bathroom with the tester so she could observe me providing the sample. She never turned a hair about the belt, but I was mortified. Wouldn't be surprised if she had run into this before.

Is it the same ambition, discipline and disregard for inconvenience that go into sports training, and a chastity regime? Or is it really the cliché causality, of having more motivation and energy for sports when not wasting time on masturbation?

The most usual way to cheat is to change the urine.
I do not have any experience similar to @Avery but probably a chastity belt was not of her "interest".
If they want a hard cheater hunt, they ask for blood, but serology in my level is very unusual.

I'm not sure how you would manage cheating with the belt. It's almost impossible to avoid the test or postpone it. The presumption is you know you will flunk the test therefore you must be guilty. Maybe some styles of belts would allow one to hide a sample of urine somehow onboard and deliver that to the inspector. Almost certainly somebody's thought about it.

I've never had any real emergencies, but I carry an emergency key at all times just in case. It's in a small envelope with my husband's signature across the seal.

There was one occasion, a very long time ago, when he forgot the key during a weekend getaway. I wasn't as obedient back then as I am now, and every time he suggested I take out the emergency key I pointed out that I was just fine and wasn't experiencing any emergencies.

Eventually he took it out of my purse and tore it open himself.

I probably deserved a severe punishment, but I think he let it slide because we were on vacation.

And he never forgot the key again!

That is because the thin looking cables apparently really are some kind of stainless steel, cutting the same thickness of zinc-plated PVC-coated steel cable is significantly easier. But even then, for the diameter (which looks to be about 4mm) that is used by FS or for rear cables used by other manufacturers the correct tool are bolt cutters and if that is not available it makes more sense to either file or saw through it (which as you are cutting individual wires and in the process fraying the cable is surprisingly easy. But note that the same effect introduces another, and somewhat unpredictable, injury hazard into the process of cutting something off from someone).

Well, lying in bed, it's quiet, there's nothing to occupy your mind, you're naked (at least I am), you think of some individual or situation that turns you on, you're horny to begin with from lack of release ... that's probably more than enough for this forum.
