This language issue arises periodically. I do not try to mean "forcing" or "imposition", but, for example in my family usage is awaited, expected, endorsed, accepted, seen as needed... It is not forced but I think that a " should " is not proper either.

I disagree partially, and I think that every women in my family will do too. If wearing the belt is a tradition, we can accept (more or less) that another girl does not use it, but is absolutely unacceptable that she has another rules. If she is not happy with the belt she can quit when she want, but make special rules for her, no.
