The women I know who wanted careers have them.
Personally, I think those of us who found a good man and GET to be housewives are the lucky ones.
I like to shop and cook.
I have running water and I don't need to transport water for bathing, cooking, or cleaning.
I have machines to heat the food (stove, oven, microwave), heat/cool the house, wash the dishes, wash the laundry, dry the laundry, heat the water, clean the floor, cool/preserve the food (which reduces how much I need to shop), and transport me and my stuff around town. My mom (when she was young) and my grandmother (much of her life) had to chop wood each day for most of those tasks.
I get to choose my working hours and priorities based on when I want to visit with friends and how much energy I have that day, and I have plenty of leisure time for television and games on my phone.
My husband, on the other hand, has to go to work all day every weekday, no matter how he feels or what else is happening in town that day that he would rather be attending. He works his butt off to keep us fed, clothed and sheltered, and I just have to be a responsible steward of our resources when I spend the money.
I don't much like cleaning the toilet, but overall I think I have the much better deal.
If either of us is "oppressed" it is him.
