I think the solution for this is to let people explain about themselves in introduction page and further discussions should be on their profile page. In addition to seeing what they have replied in various threads, a new tab having all conversations they had should be introduced. This is just like writing something on your timeline in Facebook it's public and it doesn't crowd the introduction page.

this could be too complicated, i wonder if there would be a better idea to replace the introduction topic

maybe a kind of user card index where every user can only access his own card index. there you could get all the information about the user, but the discussions would be held in the other topics

It would take time to make it,but why not opening a sort of "summary" for the main subjects,pinned at the top of the board?

Like:

"Title:Summary of the board,read it after your first post in "Introduction"

Content:

Choice of a chastity belt:
-related topic 1
-related topic 2
.
.
.
Keyholding:
-related topic 1
-related topic 2
.
.
.
Etc..."

we could give the Likes to welcome the new users and all further discussions would take place in other topics

I don't think any of this is really necessary. It didn't worked so badly before. What comes next, deleting someone's posts when they don't fit the topic. This feels like a trashcan thread and it is a good way to let users feel uncomfortable here.
The high amount of posts normally ended after one or two days and the introduction thread is not a repository of the users introductions but a place where new users can get connected to the community before they start participating in a topic related threads, what is normally very difficult, because they all charge a lot over time, which is okay for me, too.

I don't miss accuracy here.

Yes,it could be effective,but would need a lot of work,and be edited each time a new topic fitting in one of the category is opened to add it...

I doubt it would be easy to make(technically).And,if we want to ask questions to a new user,we couldn't.

Im not sure if i have a place in this discussion. However, as a new user. I really did not have a problem navigating the site. The hashtag system works.
From what i can tell. It seems like this forum was started on a single discussion thread and the additional threads have been branched off via moderator into other discussions.
Ideally. IMO. A person should just start a new discussion from the beginning, adding all the hashtags that pertain to the discussion.
Perhaps adding a comment box to the registration form stating how to use the site, so that new users would know to fill in their profile and to introduce themselves (for vetting purposes) then to move on from there.

Ideally, yes. But sometimes a new topic comes from another discussion

Jeff Laura is this forum's founder and administrator.
All of us are just guests who have had the opportunity to be here and participate in discussions and write what we ourselves are wondering about. Therefore, I believe that only she can decide whether to make any changes, regardless of what a poll thinks.

I think turning off the reply in introduction page does not work. Even if you turn it off, we can just type in reply to this thread and add @somebody and type our message. If we lock the thread and force people not to post there, where would new users introduce themselves. I think if you consider my suggestion, it would be a lot easier and sensible.

Would be good. That way everybody can look up to whom to talk with about certsin topics or who you actually chat with. Makes it sort of more ... trustful

Guess what, we will create a poll about our ideas about introduction page and we will let people vote untill a week and most voted suggestion will be implemented
