I’m starting to get there myself. I worry sometimes that I might fully embrace the church’s teaching on masturbation, because I don’t really believe it in my heart, and yet I remain more or less willingly belted, so maybe I do. I suppose one of my fears is how it will change things with my wife if I find self-touch to be truly sinful - she doesn’t deny herself the way I do!

The catechism of the Catholic Church, section three, part two, article six, entry 2352.

“By masturbation is to be understood the deliberate stimulation of the genital organs in order to derive sexual pleasure. "Both the Magisterium of the Church, in the course of a constant tradition, and the moral sense of the faithful have been in no doubt and have firmly maintained that masturbation is an intrinsically and gravely disordered action." “The deliberate use of the sexual faculty, for whatever reason, outside of marriage is essentially contrary to its purpose." For here sexual pleasure is sought outside of "the sexual relationship which is demanded by the moral order and in which the total meaning of mutual self-giving and human procreation in the context of true love is achieved."”

Kurt Can somebody explain me, why masturbation can be seen as a sin? I think this is also a only human made rule.

I have fairly similar beliefs as you, I believe sex before marriage as well as masturbation and lustful thinking distances a person from God. In the Church, Chastity and virginity are virtues for men and women, virtue includes your thoughts though, not just body. Not much virtue for being a Virgin if you are constantly fantasizing about sex and/or masturbating.

I wouldn’t want to wear a chastity device unless it is necessary to curb sinful tendencies. I think in some men it would be necessary as masturbation can be a strong compulsion, hard to break but not impossible.

I have decided not to wear a device, I have been struggling against the masturbation habit for years without a device and I find God grants me some progress, I have made it past a month probably a dozen times, currently I’m at 5 months since I’ve masturbated.
also, the device might arouse me more because it might draw my attention to my genitals more.

Max9 I have two questions. I'm a atheist but have gone 8 years on a christian school. I attended many worship services. I have read parts of the holy bible. Why do you reduce god to a building of stones made by humans? If you wear your chastity device 24/7 god knows it and he knows your reasons. So why can you walk outside the church in your device, but can't step inside? Even if chastity devices are associated with fetish and sex toys. These associations are made by humans and god knows, that you see it different.

Kurt Well, I don't reduce God to the church, a temple of stones, but I see the chirch as a temple built for him, a holy ground.
Moses used to wese shoes all his life, but ehen he climed up the hill and met god he told him to take off his shoes because of the top of this hill to be holy ground.

You also wear heats anywhere outside, but when you go into church you take them off...

What I wonder is that it might be inapropriate even though it doesn't have a bad intention behind it...

Interesting view. I read the books of Moses and I think the god who is described there has more human characteristics, e.g. he wiped out every living being except Noah etc. only because they didn't do want god wanted. (In my eyes more a childish behavior.) But the god described in the new testament don't has such human characteristics.

As far as I know this rule apply only to the male visitors. And I think it's not a rule from the bible.

I think only god can decide what is holy ground and what is not. See your own quote.

And the other traditions, like wearing of hats or not, are only human made. And the connection of chastity devices as fetish toys are also human made. Because everybody can decide for himself/herself what they see in these devices and for what reasons they use them. So from my side I would see no problem to wear this devices to church.

That's true, it's a tradition of the roman cstholic church. It applies to all heats that are not decorative, as far as I know. So when you wear it to comolete your ourfit you can lesve it on, when it's just a weather protection you are to take it off. Generally males don't wear a heat to complete their outfit.

Kurt Yes, the appearence of god changed a lot from the old testamonial to the mew one... also some rules were renewed...

Still, the respect for the holy ground of the church is a big thing... for example ehen Jesus came into a temple and saw businessman making money exchanges and sold goods there - a clear disrespect pf the holy ground. Jesus became so furious that he destroyed the whole market by his hands.

Angelina Well ... that time everybody went to church in order to not be so socially excluded ... so trying to seel goods before church / in church is smart, because anybody will see them when they walk out of the buulding. Also, when there's to holy mess, the empty building offered weather and dust protection for the goods... just that it's a disrespect towards god to make business or even sell slaves in a building that is intended to honor him.

Kurt That's a good point. I mean on the one hand Jesus did accecpt the church / temple as a place ment to be a place about god, but on the lther hand we do wear shoes in church, and as you don't wear shoes on a holy ground churches are probably not on the same level as the ground god told us to be holy. And that also means that as we do wear shoes in churches there are not the same rules that don't say anything about chastity belts.
