Daphne's dilemma
Avery So would you. There are a number of similar uniforms on the US Amazon site with bare midriff tops. Very nice. Probably also on the German site.
Sounds good, I think I will at least continue to deal with the topic.
Daphne I do want to know what you all think
but that's hard, i'd actually have to see a photo of you in a school uniform (and there are good reasons why you shouldn't show that)
that just reminds me. do you still have your parents' strict dress code?
Lea You mean uniforms in general have advantages, or you mean the full slip and blazer have advantages over skirt+blouse+tie? And in either case, which? (Apart from turning on some of the members here )
Daphne I do want to know what you all think
I think you really want to go for the strictest option, and are just looking for confirmation. But knowing nothing about how you look like, what your social environment is, what kind of work you are thinking of, we don't have anything to base serious advice on. (And like Angelina said, you shouldn't divulge enough information so that we could.)

That's a pretty big assumption yes, one that's wrong. I'm not here for confirmation or anything. That being said, i don't mind giving some of that info if it helps.
Daphne Well you dont have to think what to wear. You are sure that you always wear appropriate clothes. You can try both and compare which one do you prefer.
carg In general. But even strict uniform has advantages for example during cold weather you exactly know what to wear and you don t have to think if it match uniform.

OK, since you asked what we think, I decided to take you up on it. My idea was based on that you selected thighbands, and the shortest possible chain too, after asking about it here. But since my assumption is wrong, I was thinking that we might be able to help you if you give us a list of pro's and con's for you for both options: that would give us an idea what is important to you in the choice, and we can perhaps tell you what we think of them, and come up with more.
Lea you exactly know what to wear
Yes, that is of course the standard advantage of uniforms: no need to choose, and apart from that more equality between rich and poor kids (visually).
In what way is the cold weather relevant? Do you find it harder to pick, and match, a winter outfit than a summer outfit (if not in uniform)?

I've recently gotten a longer chain actually, to 6cm now as for the options
Blouse + gymslip + tie + knee socks
+can choose what i want to wear over the gymslip
+not as expensive as the other option
-not as many layers
-not as formal as i desire
Uniform with blazer and underwear
+full uniform that i cannot escape from
+proper formal wear
+will be warm enough for all seasons so i don't have to change much at all
-Expensive
-might be a bit dull
Thanks. Yes, I guess both options are not that cheap (looking at the prices from albertprendergast), but of course blazers are a lot extra. Now, I'm quite unfamiliar with school uniforms (I've never seen them in the Netherlands, except for at a British School), so this might be something that is obvious to others, but what is the difference between the full uniform and the first option with an added blazer? If there is not that much difference, can't you just get one or two sets with blazer, and the rest without, so that you can only use the blazer for colder / more formal occasions?
I'm not sure why you'd say the full uniform is dull - I think it will draw plenty of attention. It looks even more modest though.
So you have decided it will be a gymslip, and not a skirt then with the first option? Because it is less sexy?
Personally I liked the pinafore the girl wore in the first few episodes of 'His Dark Materials'; with the split skirt she can run/climb/.. without the risk of exposing herself. Of course, esp. with a blazer on top, it will take more effort in the bathroom. But I don't know if there are gymslips available with a split skirt. Don't see them at albertprendergast at least.)
Daphne full uniform that i cannot escape from
Do you mean that you can't escape from it mentally, since it is so formal and constantly present? Or are you actually considering adapting it so that you need help in taking it off? (In that case I would advise against a split skirt )
